The Cerritos College softball team clubbed a pair of home runs and had 14 hits on the day, as they defeated Pasadena City College, 10-0 in five innings in a South Coast Conference game at Nancy Kelly Field on Tuesday. The Falcons (24-10, 14-3) received a pair of two-run home runs to lead the way and will look to continue their prowess at the plate on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. when they travel to Long Beach City College for a conference game.

In the bottom of the first inning, freshman shortstop Stephanie Olivas (Warren HS) hit her first home run of the season, as Cerritos scored five times (one earned) against Cierra Newton (7-12) and the Lancers. Pasadena City had two outfield errors in the first stanza, which helped two runners score, while Olivas hit her round-tripper with two outs in the inning. It was sophomore first baseman Andrea Arellano (Downey HS), the team's best power hitter, who clubbed a two-run home run in the second inning. The blast was her 10th of the season and ties her for seventh in single-season school history.

Freshman pitcher Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS), who tossed the first four innings to pick up the win (9-3), allowed two hits and one walk, while she went 1-for-3 at the plate. Freshman Katherine Flores (El Rancho HS) set Pasadena City down in order in the fifth inning.

On the day, Olivas was 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI, with Arellano (three RBI) joining freshman third baseman Ariana Mejia (Gahr HS), freshman outfielder Danah Vasquez (Santa Fe HS) and sophomore outfielder Aubrey Formano (St. Paul HS/Fullerton College) with two hits each.
