In his last game, Cerritos College sophomore guard Juice Belvin (St. Anthony HS) scored a career-high 29 points in a win over Los Angeles Southwest College. On Wednesday, Belvin connected on 11-of-19 shots and recorded a new career-high 30 points in the Falcons 80-69 South Coast Conference South Division win over rival Long Beach City College. Winners of their last four games, Cerritos (10-6, 2-0) will host El Camino College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. At this time, no fans are allowed at home games.

Clinging to a 46-43 second half lead with 13:40 remaining on the clock, sophomore Andre Fields (Warren HS) scored five points and Belvin contributed four, as Cerritos increased their lead to 55-45. Then, with 9:28 left, sophomore Jaishon Forte (Rancho Verde HS), who returned to the lineup after a two-game absence that spanned over a month, knocked down a three-pointer to make it a 60-47 advantage. Then, with Belvin converting a three-point play, Cerritos opened up a 67-53 lead with 7:00 remaining in the game.

The Vikings closed to within 10 points (72-63) with 2:22 left, but a pair of responses from sophomore Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS), followed by a bucket by freshman Malik Johnson (Compton HS) put the game out of reach, as the Falcons led, 78-63 with a little over a minute left.

In addition to his success from the field, Belvin also netted 7-of-8 free throws and shared the team lead with seven rebounds. The 30 points came in just 24 minutes off the bench for Belvin, while Fields posted his 13 points and four caroms off the bench. Harris accounted for eight points and seven rebounds, with the trio of Johnson, along with freshmen Jalen Shores (Lakewood HS) and Jackson Barnhill (Long Beach Wilson HS) all posting six points and combined for 12 rebounds. Belvin, Shores and freshman Gorden Boykins (St. Anthony HS), who also scored five points and pulled down five rebounds, all dished out three assists.
