Through the first 23:44 of their South Coast Conference South Division men's basketball game, Cerritos College was locked in a 41-41 tie with host El Camino College. The Falcon defense limited the Warriors (2-23, 0-9) to just 12 points the remainder of the game and went on for a convincing 85-53 win. The victory improved the team's overall record to 15-9, while they are now 6-3 with one more divisional game remaining. Cerritos will travel to Compton College on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. game and then play two non-conference make-up games the following week. The Falcons are locked in a second place tie in the division with Long Beach City College, with Los Angeles Southwest College a game in front.

Starting the offensive surge to help the team pull away from freshman Garrett Bell (Sonora HS), who scored the next five points, while sophomore Cerroy Chenault (Warren HS) followed with a three-pointer for a 59-44 advantage. Sophomore Juice Belvin (St. Anthony HS) accounted for buckets on the team's next three possessions, and after freshman Justin Stephens (Gahr HS) converted a three-point play, Cerritos had opened up a 12-point lead (58-46) midway through the second half.

Freshman Gorden Boykins (St. Anthony HS) added a three-point play of his own, with Bell draining another three-pointer to increase the team's lead to 68-49. Pushing the lead over 20 points (71-50) was freshman Jalen Shores (Lakewood HS), who hit a three-pointer with 6:03 left on the clock. Bell added a different type of three-pointer when he converted all three of his free throws after getting fouled with 4:58 left to make it a 76-50 lead.

All 10 players in uniform scored for the Falcons, with Belvin leading the team with 15 points, while adding seven rebounds, with sophomore Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS) recording 12 points to go along with his seven caroms. Bell (11 points, three rebounds), along with Boykins (nine points, six rebounds) and Chenault (nine points, three rebounds, three assists) and played good all-around games. Stephens turned in a season-high eight points and five rebounds, while freshman Eric Clark (Los Alamitos HS) checking in with five points and five rebounds in the win.
