On Friday, the Cerritos College men's swimming team earned a sixth place, two seventh place and three eighth place finishes at the Golden West Invitational to come in sixth place as a team. The Falcons compiled 508 team points on the day. They will now open South Coast Conference play on Friday at 12:30 p.m. when they travel to Mt. San Antonio College to take on the Mounties and El Camino College.

In the 100-yard IM, Jeffrey Park (Cerritos HS) earned a sixth place finish with his time of 1:03.41, with teammates Mitchell Bowman (Lakewood HS), Kevin De Leon (El Segundo HS) and Paul Vega (Northview HS) coming in eighth through 10th place, respectively and finished within two seconds of Park's time. A 50-yard breaststroke time of 30.61 by Daniel Loeza (Hamilton HS) put him in seventh place, with Nick Apodaca (Downey HS) recording an eighth place time of 23.15 in the 50-yard freestyle. There were 10 swimmers that finished within a second of each other in the race.

Bowman recorded a time of 2:20.97 to finish in eighth place in the 200-yard IM, with Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) swimming the 50-yard butterfly in 25.82 to come in seventh place, while his time of 50.79 in the 100-yard freestyle put him in eighth place.

In relay races, the Falcons used Apodaca, Davey Brown (Whittier HS), Rojas and Peter Roldan (Downey HS) to turn in an eighth place time of 1:34.18, while they also came in eight place in the 400-yard freestyle. That quartet consisted of Brown, Rojas, Apodaca and Brown and recorded a time of 3:30.94.
