With their 6-3 win over host Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday, the Cerritos College men's tennis team clinched their eighth South Coast Conference championship in the last 11 seasons. The Falcons (16-4, 5-0) have just one conference match remaining and will travel to El Camino College for a 2:00 p.m. contest on Thursday. They will play three more non-conference matches before competing in the conference tournament.

Playing without two of the regulars, the Falcons suited up just five players, which meant forfeit losses in one of their singles and doubles matches. Add to that a freak injury to freshman Henry Ayesiga (Malezi School, Kenya) during his #4 singles match that forced him to retire, and Cerritos could have been in trouble.

But all of the matches that were completed were Falcon wins, including a close 9-7 win by the doubles tandem of Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) and Agustin Lombardi (E.S.O.S., Argentina). The two moved up a position on the singles ladder and each recorded straight set wins.

Prior to his injury in singles play, Ayesiga paired with sophomore Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya) for an 8-4 win, while Kagoma also won his #1 singles match, 6-0, 6-3. Coming back after losing the first set to remain undefeated in singles play was sophomore Milos Zoric (Gimnazjia Indija, Serbia) with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory.
