For the second year in a row, a Cerritos College men's tennis player has been selected the ITA Player of the Year. Last season, Nathan Eshmade was honored at the annual banquet held prior to the CCCAA State Championships in Ojai. On Wednesday night, sophomore Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya), who teamed with Eshmade last season to win the state doubles championship, was honored with the award. Kagoma is the third Cerritos player to receive the award, joining Eshmade and Derek Siddiqui (2011).

Amadi Kagoma was named the ITA Player of the Year Kagoma, who owns a 22-3 record in singles play this year, is seeded #4 for the upcoming state championships, which get underway on Thursday morning. He won the South Coast Conference singles title. Additionally, Kagoma and freshman Henry Ayesiga (Malezi School, Kenya) will enter the state championships as the #2-seeded doubles team. Although they have only played together six times this year, they have won all of their matches.

Last season, Kagoma reached the Round of 16 at the state singles championships, before an injury forced him to withdraw. He focused his energy on playing doubles with Eshmade, which resulted in a state championship.
