Needing a second day to complete their first round of the Southern California Regional Team Playoffs, the Cerritos College men's tennis team defeated Riverside City College, 5-2 on Wednesday. The Falcons (20-5), seeded #4, led 3-2 on Tuesday until rain washed out the match before it could be completed. The win sends the team to the semifinals next Tuesday, where they will take on #2-seeded College of the Desert.

The two teams faced each other last week, with the Roadrunners (13-1) recording a 7-2 win.

On Wednesday, sophomore Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya) finished off Mathieu Willockx, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 for the fourth team point, while freshman Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) defeated Patrick Stetco, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 for the clinching team victory.

Kagoma and freshman Antonio Torrebella-Clark (Cypress HS) posted an 8-3 win in the top doubles match on Tuesday, while Antoniuk and freshman Agustin Lombardi (E.S.O.S., Argentina) pulled out a 9-7 victory.

The third team point from Tuesday was Torrebella-Clark recording a 6-3, 6-4 win in the #2 singles match. Two of the singles matches were incomplete, with Riverside (13-7) leading in both.

Before the Falcons can play their next team playoff match, they will host the South Coast Conference Tournament, which will run from Thursday through Saturday.
