After an uneventful first inning, the Cerritos College softball team scored 11 second-inning runs to highlight a 15-1, five-inning victory over Bakersfield College at Nancy Kelly Field on Friday. The win at home was the fourth in as many days for the Falcons (11-6), who resume South Coast Conference play on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at home against El Camino College.

The second inning started with the first 12 batters reaching base. Sophomore shortstop Ashley Miller (West Torrance HS/North Platte, NE CC) and sophomore catcher Katie Caraballo (El Rancho HS/Fullerton College) drove in runs with consecutive hits before freshman outfielder Arianna Hernandez (Santa Fe HS) slapped in a run. Freshman pitcher Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS) collected a pair of RBI with a single before sophomore first baseman Andrea Arellano (Downey HS) drove home a run with a hit. The inning would be kept alive by a two-run single from sophomore pinch-hitter Julia Mendoza (Los Altos HS) before Hernandez drove home the final run with a single.

The biggest blow of the game was saved for the third inning when freshman catcher Sammie Klein (La Habra HS) hit a grand slam, her second home run in as many days.

Freshman second baseman Stephanie Olivas (Warren HS) went 3-for-4 on the day with an RBI and three runs scored, while Hernandez, Mendoza and freshman Haley Whitney (Warren HS) all added a pair of hits. Ramirez pitched the first three innings and allowed two first-inning hits before sophomore Kayla Klein (La Habra HS/Texas A&M University) tossed the final two innings and surrendered one run on three hits.
