Trailing 2-0 with time running out, the Cerritos College women's soccer team scored twice in the final 11 minutes to post a 2-2 draw with Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday. The tie snapped a four-game losing streak for the Falcons (2-4-1) as they played their final non-conference game. The team will open South Coast Conference play on Tuesday when they travel to El Camino College for a 2:00 p.m. game.
The comeback started in the 79th minute when sophomore Victoria Adame (North Torrance HS) finished off a nice transitional play after receiving a pass from sophomore Meghan Legayada (Sunny Hills HS). In fact, it was Legayada who tied the game with three minutes remaining, as she chipped in a pass from sophomore Valerie Becerra (La Serna HS). It was the first goal for Legayada after opening the year with a hat trick against Norco College.
Adame and Legayada remain tied for the team lead with four goals each. Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS) turned away six shots in preserving the tie.
