Taking on East Los Angeles College in the South Coast Conference Tournament, the #7-seeded Cerritos College women's soccer team recorded their second straight 7-0 victory on Friday. With the win, the Falcons (6-9-2, 4-5-1) will host either Compton College or Los Angeles City College for the seventh place game in the tournament next Tuesday. Earlier in the week, Cerritos posted a 7-0 win over the Huskies (1-14-0, 0-10-0) and have now posted shutouts in five of their last six games. The game next Tuesday will be the final one of the season for the Falcons.
With East Los Angeles only having 11 available players, the two teams agreed to play a 70-minute match. It only took Cerritos 1:19 to score their first goal of the game, as seven different players went on to score. Sophomore Meghan Legayada (Sunny Hills HS) received a lead pass from sophomore Valerie Becerra (La Serna HS) and chipped the ball past Sabrina Heredia-Greeting. The goal put Legayada in the lead on the team with seven goals.

Later in the first half, freshman Lissette Saucedo (Huntington Park HS) picked up a loose ball and scored on a low rolling shot, with Becerra picking up the team's third goal when she received a pass on the run from freshman Samantha Martinez (El Rancho HS) and went in alone to score her second goal of the year.

Sophomore Victoria Adame (North Torrance HS), who entered the game tied for the team lead in goals, scored her seventh of the year early in the second half when she was able to settle a pass from sophomore Lauren Vazquez (Mayfair HS) and fired a shot past Maryuri Orellana, who took over in goal.

The trio of freshman Casandra Gomez (Norwalk HS), Vazquez and sophomore Katie Alexander (Mayfair HS/Vanguard University) all scored their fourth goals of the season in the second half to close out the scoring for the Falcons. Legayada joined Becerra for the team lead in assists with two helpers in the second half, with freshman Brianna Montano (Troy HS) feeding Alexander a great lead pass in the final minute to account for the seventh goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS) picked up her sixth shutout of the season and extended her shutout streak to 310 minutes, as she made three saves in the win.
