With a chance to host a first round South Coast Conference Tournament game at stake, the Cerritos College women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with Compton College on Friday. The Falcons (4-9-2, 2-5-1) are currently in fourth place in the South Coast Conference South Division and sit in seventh place in seeding convering bothh divisions if the tournament started today. The team has one regular season conference game remaining and will host East Los Angeles College at 1:45 p.m. next Tuesday.
Against the Tartars (2-8-5, 1-3-3), the teams combined for just 12 total shots, with five of them on net. The Falcons had the best scoring chances, with most of them coming in the first half. Sophomore Meghan Legayada (Sunny Hills HS), the team leader in goals (6), had three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, but were turned away on each occasion.
Cerritos goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS) was only asked to make one save in the game, as the defense kept Compton at bay for the majority of the game. The clean sheet was the fourth of the season for Ruiz.
