In their final regular season game before the start of the South Coast Conference Tournament, the Cerritos College women's soccer team set a season-high in goals after their 7-0 win over visiting East Los Angeles College on Tuesday. The Falcons (5-9-2, 3-5-1) will now enter the conference tournament on Friday against an opponent to be determined. After opening up a 2-0 lead through the first half, Cerritos put the game out of reach with three goals in the span of six minutes to make it a 5-0 advantage.
The Huskies (1-12-0, 0-8-0) were called for a handball in the 18-yard box, which awarded Cerritos a penalty kick. Sophomore Mary Morales (Santa Ana HS) stepped up and her shot rolled under East LA goalkeeper Sabrina Heredia-Greeting for her first goal of the season.

Less than two minutes later, freshman Casandra Gomez (Norwalk HS) handled a loose ball after a throw-in deep in Husky territory and passed to sophomore Katie Alexander (Mayfair HS/Vanguard University), where she finished the play by chipping the ball into the net. A nice play accounted for the team's third goal in that span, as Morales brought the ball up from her defender position. After getting into East LA territory, her crossing pass was deflected by sophomore Meghan Legayada (Sunny Hills HS) and landed on the foot of sophomore Victoria Adame (North Torrance HS), who scored into an open net.

Another aggressive offensive play led to the team's sixth goal of the game when freshman Lissette Saucedo (Huntington Park HS) drove past the East LA defender and sent a crossing pass to freshman Aryah Ayala (Cerritos HS), whose hard shot hit under the crossbar and then into the net. Sophomore Lauren Vazquez (Mayfair HS) closed out the scoring in the 70th minute when she finished a play started by Legayada, whose shot hit the crossbar. Vazquez was in the right spot and knocked the ball into the net.

Gomez started the scoring in the 25th minute when she brought the ball to the center of the 18-yard box and fired in a shot for a 1-0 lead. In the 38th minute, freshman Abigail Juarez (Brea Olinda HS)  scored her first goal of the season when she grabbed a rebound off the initial shot from sophomore Valerie Becerra (La Serna HS) and tapped it in for a goal.
