Competing at the Beach Open over the weekend, the Cerritos College women's track and field team won three events and had 16 top 10 finishers at Cal State Long Beach. The Falcons will attend the Occidental Invitational on Saturday at Occidental College.

Earning first place finishes for Cerritos were sprinter Sophie Lopez in the 400 meters, Jazzmine Davis in the 100-meter HH and the 400-meter relay team. As for Lopez, her time of 1:02.14 was good enough to win the 400 meters, while her time in the 200 meters of 27.66 put her in 10th place. Davis turned in a quick 14.61 in the 100-meter HH, while she also ran the first leg of the 400-meter relay team that included Aryianna Faircloth, Riyanna Jackson and Jordan Murphy that posted a time of 50.08.

In the 800 meters, Charlotte Barrera placed second in a time of 2:33.22, with Isis Johnson turning in an eighth place time of 2:45.88. It was a sixth place finish for Isabel Orosco in the 1500 meters with her time of 5:36.84, while Jackson recorded a seventh place time of 1:12.84 in the 400-meter IH. 

The field events saw Gia McLin placed fifth in the high jump after she cleared 1.45 meters, with Murphy also competing in the triple jump, and saw her distance of 10.32 meters earn her a third place finish. She also competed in the long jump and finished in ninth place with a distance of 4.68 meters. Davis (10.27 meters; fourth place), McLin (9.81 meters; sixth place) and Cynthia Lezama, who turned in a distance of 9.39 meters and came in ninth place, also competed in the triple jump.

The tandem of Faitalia Ah-Fook and Angelina Escobar joined the university entries in their three throwing events on Friday. Ah-Fook posted a distance of 10.47 meters to place 25th in the shot put and finished third among community college entries, while Escobar placed 27th in the event. Escobar recorded a distance of 37.77 meters in the discus to finish in 21st place, while Ah-Fook posted a hammer throw of 44.33 meters to come in 21st place. Jackson also competed in the javelin and her throw of 28.87 meters put her in 24th place.
