The Cerritos College women's water polo team fell behind early in their match against rival Long Beach City College on Wednesday at the Falcon Aquatic Center and went on to suffer a 13-4 loss. The setback dropped the team's overall record to 4-7, while they are now 1-2 in South Coast Conference play. Cerritos will now compete in the Cuesta Tournament this weekend.

The Vikings (7-3, 2-1) scored the first four goals of the game and never were challenged, as they took an 8-2 lead into halftime. LBCC goalkeeper Kendall Johnson was up to the task, as she turned away 16 Falcon shots, while freshman Catherine Borunda (El Rancho HS) recorded eight saves.

Four different players scored the Cerritos, with sophomore Teresa Zuniga (California HS) adding a team-high three steals to go with her lone tally. Sophomore Catie Tuning (Los Altos HS/University of La Verne) posted a pair of steals with her goal, with freshmen Claudia Martinez (Roosevelt HS) and Kaitlyn Mendez (Cerritos HS) also scoring. McKayla Thomas led LBCC with five goals.
