W. Water Polo: Win puts team in third place in conference

Playing in the third place game at the South Coast Conference Tournament on Saturday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team defeated Chaffey College, 15-5. The win by the Falcons concluded their regular season with a 16-10 record, which included an 8-2 mark in conference play. They will find out where they're seeded for the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Sunday.

The Falcons scored the first seven goals of the game to take a commanding lead, with freshman Isabella Sierra (California HS) accounting for four of the goals. As a team, Cerritos attacked the goal and took 41 shots, while the defense came up with 18 steals in their dominant win.

Sierra led the team with six goals and assisted on two others, while sophomore Vanessa Hinojosa (Bell Gardens HS) added a pair of goals and two steals. It was a balanced offense attack, with seven other players scoring once in the win, with freshman Kayla Peko (La Habra HS) dishing out a team-high three assists. Freshman Jackie Oliveros (Gahr HS) had four steals, with freshman Janay Williams (California HS) drawing five ejections against the Panthers.
