Competing with just four runners, the Cerritos College women's cross country team opened their 2022 season at the Redlands Invitational on Saturday. Needing five entries to comprise a team score, the Falcons did not place among the six other scoring teams. They will get an early look at the CCCAA State Championship course next Saturday when they travel to Fresno City College and run at Woodward Park.

There were a total of 69 runners at the invitational, with freshman Samantha Martinez (Fountain Valley HS) being the first Falcon runner completing the 4500 meter run in 17:56.0 and finished in 17th place. She was followed by freshman Megan Feitz (Fountain Valley HS), whose time of 18:58.7 earned her a 31st place finish. A trio of runners finished within two seconds of each other, with Feitz edged out of 30th place by less than a second.

Posting a 37th place time of 19:32.4 was freshman Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS), with freshman Mia Najera (Warren HS) turning in a time of 22:20.2, good for 58th place on the day.
