Running the 5K course at the Palos Verdes XC Course on Friday, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in third place. The Falcons, who will travel to Bakersfield next Friday for the Southern California Championships, finished with 61 team points and had two runners finish in the top 10.
Freshman Megan Feitz (Fountain Valley HS) earned 1st Team All-South Coast Conference honors with her sixth place time of 21:20.2, while freshman teammate Samantha Martinez (Fountain Valley HS) turned in an eighth place time of 21:39.5 to earn 2nd Team recognition. The top seven finishers were 1st Team all-conference selections, while finishers 8-14 were 2nd Team selections.
Also earning 2nd Team honors was freshman Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS), as her time of 22:28.7 put her in 12th place out of 44 total runners. Just missing out on earning all-conference recognition was sophomore Lauren Berg (Fountain Valley HS), who was clocked in 23:20.9, which put her in 17th place overall.
Freshman teammates Leslie Juarez (Warren HS) and Mia Najera (Warren HS) finished 14 seconds apart, but took 21st and 22nd places, respectively. Juarez crossed the finish line in 24:03.8, while Najera was clocked in 24:17.4.
