After a power outage delayed the official results of the Southern California Championships for a day, the Cerritos College women's cross country team placed sixth with 185 team points. The Falcons, who competed at the Kern Country Soccer Park in Bakersfield on Friday, will now get two weeks to prepare before they run in the CCCAA State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.

There were 137 competitors at the Southern California Championships running the 5K course, which produced multiple packs of runners all looking to turn in times to help improve their team's finish. Leading the way for the Falcons was freshman Megan Feitz (Fountain Valley HS), who was part of a nine-runner pack that all completed th course within 10 seconds of each other. The time of 19:32.2 earned Feitz a 22nd place result overall, while freshman Samantha Martinez (Fountain Valley HS) was also part of that 10-second pack. Martinez was clocked in 19:29.3, which placed her 25th on the day.

Holding off a couple of runners to place 46th was freshman Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS), who turned in a time of 20:18.2, with sophomore Lauren Berg (Fountain Valley HS) the fourth Cerritos runner to cross the finish line. She was 58th overall after recording a time of 20:51.3 and raced just ahead of two other runners in the final few yards.

Completing the team scoring for the Falcons was freshman Leslie Juarez (Warren HS), as her time of 21:24.6 put her in 73rd place overall. Also running for Cerritos on the day was freshman Mia Najera (Warren HS), who came in 95th place after posting a time of 22:44.9.
