Running in the SoCal Preview Meet in Bakersfield on Friday, the Cerritos College women's cross country team had three Top 40 finishers and came in fifth place. The Falcons finished with 144 team points and were third out of the six South Coast Conference schools that competed. Next Friday, the team will be in San Diego to run in the Coach Downey Cross Country Classic at Morely Field.

The first Falcon runner to complete the 5K course was Samantha Martinez (Fountain Valley HS), whose time of 20.18.9 placed her 20th out of the 138 runners who competed. She was followed by Megan Feitz (Fountain Valley HS), who crossed the finish line in 21:08.3, which was the 34th place time and edged out several other runners. One of those was teammate Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS), as her time of 21:21.3 put her in 39th place overall.

It wasn't until 22:20.1 before the next Cerritos runner finished, as Leslie Juarez (Warren HS) was 57th on the day, with Mia Najera (Warren HS) rounding out the team score with her 66th place time of 22:58.5 and was the final runner for the Falcons.
