M. Tennis: Falcons defeat Bakersfield, 7-2

Continuing to play with two starters out of the lineup, the Cerritos College men's tennis team hasn't stopped winning matches. On Tuesday, the Falcons (18-4) defeated Bakersfield College, 7-2 in a non-conference match. The team has already clinched the South Coast Conference championship and have two more non-conference matches before they enter post-season competition. On Thursday, Cerritos will travel to College of the Desert (10-1) for a 2:00 p.m. match.

Against the Renegades (3-10), the Falcons were still without two of their players, which resulted in forfeit losses in the #3 doubles and #6 singles matches. However, Cerritos won all of the matches that took place.

Freshman Antonio Torrebella-Clark (Cypress HS) returned to the lineup and teamed with sophomore Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya) for an 8-3 win in doubles, while he also registered a 6-2, 6-2 win in the #2 singles match. Kagoma dispatched David Perez, 7-5, 6-2 at the top of the singles ladder.

Freshmen Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) and Agustin Lombardi (E.S.O.S., Argentina) opened up a 7-2 lead in their doubles match and went on to post am 8-5 win. Lombardi defeated Michael Rice, 6-0, 6-2 in singles, with Antoniuk leading, 7-5, 3-1 over Austin Lee before the match was retired. Sophomore Milos Zoric (Gimnazjia Indija, Serbia) rounded out the win with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the #5 singles match.
