After spotting East Los Angeles College an early 1-0 lead, the Cerritos College softball team scored 14 straight runs for a 14-1, 5-inning South Coast Conference win. The Falcons (14-4, 4-1) won their fourth game in a row and ninth in their last 10 games. They will look to extend that streak when they host Los Angeles Harbor College in a 3:00 p.m. conference game on Thursday.

The 10-run second inning came on just four hits, as Cerritos drew six walks and had one batter hit by a pitch. In addition, the Huskies committed one error. Walks to sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos HS/University of Montana) and freshman first baseman Kylee Brown (Warren HS) were sandwiched between a fielding error. With the bases loaded, sophomore shortstop Raquel Norzagaray (Pioneer HS) drilled a two-run double to get the inning started.

A walk to sophomore catcher Jesseca Martinez (Lakewood HS) loaded the bases, while sophomore third baseman Camille Manzo (La Habra HS/Sterling, KS University) brought home a run with a walk. After a pitching change, freshman outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) was hit by a pitch to force in a run, followed by a run-scoring walk to sophomore pitcher Jenny Navarro (Warren HS). After a sacrifice fly scored a run, sophomore outfielder Jezeree Misaalefua (Carson HS/Long Beach CC) singled home a pair. The inning closed out with RBI singles from Brown and Martinez.

Navarro took over in the circle for the final two innings, after freshman Kristen Voller (Norco HS) pitched the first three innings to earn the win.

Brown finished the day 2-for-2 with four RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Martinez also had two hits and scored twice. The Falcons had just eight hits in the game and drew eight walks.
