Looking to get off to a good start in a busy week, the Cerritos College softball team hit four home runs, as they defeating East Los Angeles College, 9-3 in a South Coast Conference game at Nancy Kelly Field on Tuesday. The Falcons (25-11, 13-5) remain in second place in conference play, but will host #4-ranked Palomar College (28-5) at 3:00 p.m. in a non-conference game on Wednesday.

Both teams traded a pair of solo home runs until the bottom of the fifth inning. That's where Cerritos scored four times, with a triple from sophomore outfielder Jezeree Misaalefua (Carson HS/Long Beach CC) sparking the offensive outburst. With two outs, sophomore second baseman Jenny Collazo (Paramount HS) broke the tie with a double, which plated Misaalefua. Sophomore shortstop Camille Manzo (La Habra HS/Sterling (KS) College) lifted a fly ball to left field for what appeared to be the final out. But Huskies outfielder Sujey Zamudio dropped the routine fly ball, which allowed Collazo to score. Freshman outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) followed with a run-scoring triple to right field, while freshman pitcher Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) drove in the fourth run with a single.

Caballero (3-0) tossed a complete game and allowed three solo home runs, while striking out five batters. At the plate, Caballero added a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Falcons added two more runs, with solo home runs coming from freshman first baseman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) and Misaalefua, which was her first in two months. A fielding error allowed Collazo to score after she doubled with two outs. Sophomore third baseman Jenny Navarro (Warren HS) drove in the team's first run with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning.
