Cerritos College sophomore Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) drove in six runs and earned the win in the circle for the Cerritos College softball team in their 14-4, six-inning win over visiting Rio Hondo College on Thursday. The South Coast Conference South Division win by the Falcons (9-4) snapped a two-game losing streak. The team will host Mt. San Jacinto College (11:00 a.m.) and Palomar College (2:00 p.m.) on Saturday at Nancy Kelly Field.

Caballero gave Cerritos a 4-0 lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning and added a two-run single in a seven-run fourth inning. She capped off the game with her bases clearing double in the bottom of the sixth inning that secured the mercy rule win. Additionally, Caballero pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to secure the win in the circle and allowed two runs, while striking out four batters.

The Falcons took an early 3-0 lead against the Roadrunners (4-7) when sophomore shortstop Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) and freshman first baseman Desiree Flores (Downey HS) each drove in a run. Aggressive running by Brown on a fielder's choice accounted for the second run of the inning.

After Caballero hit her solo home run, Cerritos posted a seven-run fourth inning, which included two-run singles by both freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) and freshman offensive player Lesley Briseno (Cypress HS).

The Falcons moved a lot of the players to different positions, with freshman Emma Wolff (Mayfair HS) making several outstanding plays at second base, in addition to adding two base hits at the plate. Wolff, Lopez and sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) each had two hits, with Caballero collecting three hits.
