The Cerritos College softball team jumped out to an early 4-0 lead over host Fullerton College on Saturday and went on to post a 7-4 win. The victory by the Falcons (12-7) concluded their four-game road trip, with the team returning to Nancy Kelly Field to host East Los Angeles College in a 3:00 p.m. South Coast Conference crossover game on Tuesday.

Sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) started the game by drawing a walk and stole second base. That set up sophomore second baseman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS), who doubled home Olivas and moved to third base on the throw to the plate. Freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) then drew a walk, with Brown scoring on an infield out by freshman third baseman Rain Vega (La Mirada HS). After sophomore shortstop Erica Guzman (Enoch HS/William Jessup University) singled to left field, freshman defensive player Carly Gutierrez (Santa Fe HS) gave the Falcons a 4-0 lead with a two-run double.

That was enough offense for sophomore starting pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS), who held the Hornets in check for the first five innings. She hit two batters in the first inning, but retired the next seven before a leadoff single by Elexa Rangel led off the fourth inning. Voller worked out of a jam in the inning and didn't allow a run until the sixth when Eryka Springer hit a two-run home run.

By the time Fullerton got on the board, Cerritos had a 7-0 lead, thanks to three more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Freshman pinch-hitter Tatyana Peko (La Habra HS) led off the stanza with a base hit before Olivas drew her second walk of the game. Sophomore first baseman Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) clubbed a two-run double, with Lopez adding a run-scoring double to cap off the team's scoring.
