The Cerritos College softball team bounced back from a pair of losses with an 11-1, 5-inning South Coast Conference win over Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday. The Falcons (11-6, 1-0) will look for their second straight conference win on Thursday when they play a 3:00 p.m. game at Long Beach City College.

After taking an early 1-0 lead, Cerritos put six runs on the board in the top of the third inning. Sophomore outfielder Ashley Melendez (Magnolia HS) led off with a walk, stole second base and advanced to third when the throw was wild. Sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) then reached second base on another Seahawks error and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Consecutive doubles by freshmen Rain Vega (La Mirada HS) and Lesley Briseno (Cypress HS) accounted for another run, with freshman Andrea Villalta (Norwalk HS) clubbing the fourth double of the inning.

Sophomore Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) tossed a complete game and allowed one run (unearned) and four hits, while striking out seven batters. At the plate, she reached base twice and scored once.

Cerritos closed out the scoring with two runs in the fourth inning, as Briseno drove in a run and Villalta picked up her second RBI with another double. Vega drove in the team's final run with a fifth-inning single that plated freshman pinch-hitter Emma Wolff (Mayfair HS).
