Taking on the #1 team in the state, the Cerritos College softball team was limited to five hits in a 6-0 non-conference loss at Cypress College on Tuesday. The Falcons (24-11) will now host EC-Compton Center at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Nancy Kelly Field.

The Chargers (35-0) opened an early 3-0 lead after the first two innings, with one of the runs being unearned. On the day, Cerritos committed four errors, which led to three of the six runs being unearned against sophomore pitcher Jissel Caballero (Warren HS).

With the game still 3-0, the Falcons threatened in the top of the fourth inning. Sophomore shortstop Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) led off with a walk, followed by a double from freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS). The bases were loaded with no outs after freshman defensive player Carly Gutierrez (Santa Fe HS) drew a walk. However, sophomore first baseman Kristen Voller (Norco HS) grounded into a double play for two outs. Freshman outfielder Lesley Briseno (Cypress HS) drew a walk to load the bases once again, but freshman catcher Rain Vega (La Mirada HS) grounded out to end the inning.

A pair of singles by freshman shortstop Emma Wolff (Mayfair HS) and sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) started the fifth inning, but Cerritos could not cash in and were left off the scoreboard.
