Looking for a huge win to end the regular season, the Cerritos College softball team saw a 4-1 lead turn into a 12-6 loss against El Camino College at Nancy Kelly Field on Tuesday. The Falcons (26-13, 7-5), who finished in third place in the South Coast Conference South Division, will find out on Saturday where they are seeded for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The final four teams seeded out of the 18 that are selected will compete in a play-in game on May 2, with the first round slated for May 5-6.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning, Cerritos took a 2-1 lead when sophomore shortstop Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) doubled in a pair of runs. They added a single run in the second inning, thanks to an error which allowed freshman second baseman Emma Wolff (Mayfair HS) to reach first base. With Wolff on third base and two outs, freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) drove her home with a base hit.

Another Warriors (34-6, 12-0) error led to the team's fourth run, as freshman designated player Carly Gutierrez (Santa Fe HS) started the third inning by reaching base on a miscue. Freshman pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS) then drove her in with a base hit.

El Camino started their comeback in the fourth inning with three runs, which was aided by an error. Lopez capitalized on a leadoff walk to sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) by clubbing a two-run home run to give the Falcons a 6-4 advantage. However, they Falcons would not be able to add to their total and were held to just two hits the rest of the game. They did leave the bases loaded in the seventh inning when the game ended.

Lopez led the way with a 4-for-5 day with three RBI and two runs scored, while Brown and freshman third baseman Rain Vega (La Mirada HS) each added a pair of hits. Voller took the loss in the circle.
