Although they shot the ball exceptionally well, the Cerritos College men's basketball team came up short in their non-conference game at Santa Monica College on Wednesday. The 78-74 loss was the second in a row for the Falcons to start the season. They will now open the College of the Canyons Tournament on November 21 when they take on College of the Canyons at 2:00 p.m.

In the loss to the Corsairs (3-0), freshman forward Josh Bell (Long Beach Wilson HS) drained all nine of his field goals and led all scorers with 23 points, while he also pulled down nine rebounds. It was a close game from the start, but poor free throw shooting (10-of-22) and 19 turnovers hurt the Falcons more than their 67% field goal shooting. Sophomore guard Victor Jones (Lakewood HS) dished out eight assists to go along with his eight points, with freshman guard Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS) adding 10 points off the bench.

Sophomore Jarion Henry (Kimball, TX HS/Trinity Valley, TX CC) appeared in his first game and was a threat from both ends of the court, as he scored eight points, while also finishing with seven rebounds, five blocked shots and four assists in the loss. Sophomore guard Kevin Conrad (Buena Park HS) finished with eight points off the bench.
