After hitting a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime, the Cerritos College men's basketball team was unable to hit the final shot and suffered an 81-80 loss to Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday. The loss dropped the Falcons to 14-9 overall and 7-2 in the South Coast Conference. They will look to rebound on Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Southwest College.

At the end of regulation, sophomore guard Jordan Reise (Huntington Beach HS) drained a three-pointer to complete a late comeback by the Falcons. Trailing 72-66 with :57 seconds left after a pair of Daniel Thompson free throws, Reise hit a jumper with :48 seconds remaining. The Falcons fouled Thompson, who missed the front end of a one-and-one, which set the table for sophomore guard Victor Jones (Lakewood HS), whose three-pointer got the team to within 72-71 with :26 seconds left.

Thompson netted both free throws with :16 seconds left before Reise, who scored 16 points off the bench, drained his trey giving the Falcons and extra five minutes.

But in overtime, Cerritos missed their first four shots before a Jones dunk with 2:28 left tied the game at 76-76. After trading baskets, freshman Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS) gave the Falcons their first lead since 3:50 was left in the second half. Thompson then put the Mounties in the lead with a three-point play with :59 seconds left. The Falcons did get two shots at tying the game, but they fell short.

Sophomore TJ Traylor (Dominguez HS) finished with a team-high 18 points, while sophomore Jarion Henry (Kimball, TX HS/Trinity Valley, TX CC) accounted for 15 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. The trio of Jones, Winn and sophomore Kevin Conrad (Buena Park HS) all contributed nine points. Thompson (18 points) and Sam Holmes, who had 19 points, led the Mounties.
