Sporting a lead midway through the first half, the Cerritos College men's basketball team was able to pull away with a strong second half and walked away with an 86-71 win on Wednesday. The Falcons (10-7, 3-0) took sole possession of first place in the South Coast Conference South Division with their win over host Long Beach City College and will now travel to East Los Angeles College for a 5:00 p.m. game on Friday.

Coming off the bench to lead the way for the Falcons was freshman guard Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS), who scored a team-high 21 points, with 13 of them coming in the second half. It was his three-pointer with 15:39 left in the second half that put the team up, 53-45, while six straight possessions helped the team increase their lead to 17 points over the next four minutes.

Sophomore guard Victor Jones (Lakewood HS) added 20 points, and guided Cerritos to a five-point lead at halftime with 16 of those points coming in the first 20 minutes. It was a balanced attack for the Falcons, who also received 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists from freshman guard Austin Pope (Burbank HS).

The largest lead of the night came in the final four minutes after sophomore guard Jordan Reise (Huntington Beach HS) netted a pair of free throws for an 81-57 advantage. Sophomore forward Jarion Henry (Kimball, TX HS/Trinity Valley CC) accounted for nine points and a team-high nine rebounds, with sophomore forward TJ Traylor (Dominguez HS) and freshman forward Josh Bell (Long Beach Wilson HS) each accounting for six points.
