Led by sophomore center Jarion Henry (Kimball, TX HS/Trinity Valley, TX CC), who scored 24 points, to go along with 15 rebounds and four assists, the Cerritos College men's basketball team clinched at least a share of the South Coast Conference title on Friday. The Falcons (17-9, 10-2) posted a 70-66 win at The Avairy against rival Long Beach City College (17-9, 9-3) and will close out their regular season with a 7:00 p.m. game at Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday.

Henry was one of three Falcons in double-figures, as the team pulled out the win despite converting only 20-of-35 free throws, while LB City also attempted 20 more shots. But in the final minute of the game, Henry and freshman Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS) netted both of their shots from the charity stripe to stave off a late Vikings comeback.

Trailing most of the game, LBCC finally worked their way back and even took a 54-52 lead with 9:18 left in the second half after Andre Springer drained a three-pointer. But it would take 3:13 before Long Beach City would score again and by then, Cerritos had opened up a 60-54 lead, with Winn accounting for three of those points from the free throw line.

But it was Henry who was all over the court, as he made 7-of-11 shots and wiped the boards clean for 15 rebounds. He also pushed the ball up the court and fed TJ Traylor (Dominguez HS) with a fine pass when the game was in the final minutes. Traylor was also formidable in the game, as he contributed 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and swatted away six shots.

Long Beach stayed close in the first half due to the 13 points from Chris Spencer, who would finish with 22 points before fouling out with 2:39 remaining. Brandon Staton scored all 13 of his points in the second half for the Vikings.

Winn, who was the team's best free throw shooter, converted 5-of-6 and finished with 10 points, while sophomore Victor Jones (Lakewood HS) added nine points and four boards in the win.
