On the strength of their 72-61 South Coast Conference win at Pasadena City College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College men's basketball team remained in first place in the South Coast Conference South Division. The Falcons (13-8, 6-1), winners of three straight and six of their last seven games, used a balanced attack and outrebounded the Lancers (17-6, 5-2), 55-38. The win over 15th-ranked PCC was a pivotal game for Cerritos, who entered the week ranked #20 in the state. The team will now host ECC Compton Center (7-14, 3-4) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Along with their rebounding average, five Falcons scored in double figures, while the team converted 22-of-28 free throws, with eight courtesy of technical fouls called against Pasadena City. Freshman Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS), who netted 10-of-13 from the charity stripe, led all scorers with 19 points and added seven rebounds in the win. Posting a double-double was sophomore Jarion Henry (Kimball, TX HS/Trinity Valley, TX CC), who had 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, while sophomore TJ Traylor (Dominguez HS) joined him with 12 points and 12 caroms.

Although they shot only 35% from the field, Cerritos used 19 offensive rebounds to finish off the Lancers, who only hit 33% of their shots and finished with 10 offensive rebounds. Sophomore guard Victor Jones (Lakewood HS) accounted for 14 points in the win, while freshman guard Austin Pope (Burbank HS) was 8-of-9 from the free throw line, en route to 12 points, while he pulled down eight rebounds.
