Coming off three straight shutout wins to capture the Hartnell Tournament last week, the Cerritos College men's soccer team went 51 more minutes against host Oxnard College on Tuesday before finally allowing a goal. The Falcons were holding a 1-0 lead, but the Condors tied it up eatly in the second half and the game finished in a 1-1 tie. Cerritos (4-0-1), ranked #2 in the nation, will host their home opener on Friday at 4:00 p.m. when they take on Golden West College (1-0-2).

The Falcons took a 1-0 first half lead in the 30th minute whe freshman Christian Carrillo (KatellaHS) connected with freshman Edgar Gonzalez (Long Beach Millikan HS) and he converted his first goal of the season.

Despite the first half lead, head coach Benny Artiaga was frustrated with his team's performance. "It was a very frustrating game for us," said Artiaga. "Our team showed very little desire to work today and it showed. This performance today is going to be used as a learning tool for us down the road."

Oxnard (1-2-1) took advantage of a defensive miscue to tie the game in the 51st minute. Freshman midfielder Steve Martinez (Salesian HS) had the ball taken away from him and on the counter, they got past sophomore Andy Ramirez (Southeast HS). A pass across the center of the field was controlled and the shot was put past freshman goalkeeper Ivan Del Campo (Granada Hills Kennedy HS).
