With an opportunity to be the co-champions of the South Coast Conference, the Cerritos College men's soccer team saw host El Camino College score in the 87th minute to earn a 1-1 tie on Friday afternoon. The draw by the Falcons prevents them from coming in first place, but ensures them at least a share of second place. Cerritos (11-3-7, 6-2-6) finished conference play with 24 points and Mt. San Antonio can also finish with 24 points if they win their final game later today against ECC Compton Center.

As for the Southern California Regional seeding situation, prior to the game, the Falcons were #3 in Southern California and the tie with the Warriors leaves the conference champions sitting in fourth place in the power ranking. The teams are seeded based on their power ranking points. Post-season opens on November 22 with Cerritos hosting a first round match.

In the tie, freshman Christian Carrillo (Katella HS) scored his team-leading ninth goal of the year in the 31st minute, as he tapped in a pass from sophomore Gilbert Rocha (Animo HS). The Falcons got more shots on goal than El Camino (7-4), but couldn't get another one past Jose Sanchez, who made six saves.

With time running out, the Warriors were able to tie the game in the 87th minute when Carlos Rosales sent a shot on goal that deflected off the post and into the net past freshman Ivan Del Campo (Granada Hills Kennedy HS). The Falcons were unable to get another scoring opportunity and had to settle for the draw.
