Led by six first place finishes and eight second place showings on Friday, the Cerritos College men's track and field team posted 204 team points to come in first place at the Orange Coast Classic. The Falcons will now compete in the Occidental Invitational next Friday.

Cerritos dominated aspects of the field events, as they recorded three first-second place event finishes to go along with three other second and third places over the course of the eight field events. The Falcons took the top three spots in the long jump, with freshman Terrell Coleman (Downey HS) taking first place at 6.29 meters, with sophomore Vincent Calhoun (Long Beach Poly HS) in second place at 6.23 meters. Finishing in third place was freshman Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) with a distance of 6.00 meters.

The same trio took the top three places in the triple jump with Robinson (14.21 meters) in first place, Calhoun (13.37 meters) in second and Coleman taking third at 13.26 meters. Calhoun came in second place in the high jump with a height of 1.98 meters, with Tristian Escobar (Bell Gardens HS) throwing the discus 42.41 meters to come in second place. Escobar won the javelin with a throw that traveled 51.61 meters, with sophomore Ismael Guerrero (Downey HS) taking second place at 46.46 meters and sophomore Prinz Singson (Cheyenne Central, NV) recording a distance of 45.35 for third place.

Freshman Nicholas Mendoza (Norwalk HS) won the pole vault with a height of 4.45 meters, with sophomore Andrew Hladek (Liberty, NV HS) clearing 4.30 meters for second place. Sophomore Danny Barrios (Long Beach Jordan HS) cleared 4.00 meters for fourth place. In the hammer, sophomore Brian King (Cerritos HS) earned second place with a toss of 45.86 meters.

In running events, sophomore Dario Robinson (Schurr HS) added to the team's first place finishes with a time of 15.02 in the 110-meter HH and came in second place when he posted a clocking of 59.33 in the 400-meter IH. Sophomore Isaiah Marshall (Carson HS) took third place in the 1500 meters in 4:08.50 and sophomore Jorge Puga (Downey HS) came in fourth place in the 800 meters in a time of 2:01.64. The 1600-meter relay team posted a time of 3:20.96 to win the 1600-meter relay.
