On the first day of the prestigious Oregon Relays, the Cerritos College men's track and field team had five total entries in three events. The Falcons will compete in several more events on Saturday.

In the high jump, sophomore Vincent Calhoun (Long Beach Poly HS) came close to matching his personal best height and finished in fifth place with a height of 2.06 meters. Calhoun, who is fourth on the school's top five list at 2.08 meters, actually tied for second place with six other athletes, but settled for fifth place based on how many attempts it took to get to 2.06 meters. Calhoun also competed in the long jump and placed fifth with a distance of 6.78 meters. Freshman teammate Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) took fourth place at 6.82 meters, while one other Falcon took part in the event.

Freshman Terrell Coleman (Downey HS) placed 10th overall with a jump of 6.32 meters. The other event that Cerritos took part in was the 200 meters, with sophomore Clifford Scott (Carson HS) tuning in a 14th place time of 22.79.
