M. Track & Field: Falcons place second at PLNU Invite

On Saturday, the Cerritos College men's track and field team went up against four-year competition and placed second at the Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational. The Falcons finished with 197.5 team points and trailed only Williams (MA) University, an NCAA DIII school, who had 210 points. The team will now travel on Saturday to the Arnie Robinson Invitational, which will take place at San Diego Mesa University.

Cerritos excelled in the field events, with sophomore Vincent Calhoun (Long Beach Poly HS) won the high jump with a height of 2.08 meters. He tied with Trevon Bosley of Glendale College at 2.08 meters, but came in first place because he cleared the height on his second attempt, while Bosley needed three attempts. Freshman Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) earned a second place finish in the triple jump when he lept 14.77 meters, while Calhoun turned in a fourth place jump of 14.44 meters.

In the shot put, freshman Isaiah Chavez (Downey HS) placed ninth with a throw of 13.33 meters, with freshman discus thrower Clinton Anderson (Paramount HS) posting a sixth place finish with a toss of 44.29, while sophomore Tristan Escobar (Bell Gardens HS) earned eighth place at 40.66 meters. Freshman Semaj Coates (Paramount HS) turned in a personal best hammer throw of 46.41 meters to come in fourth place, while sophomore Brian King (Cerritos HS) finished in eighth place at 44.02 meters.

Sophomore sprinter Nick Garcia (St. Anthony HS) ran the 100 meters in 10.99 to come in seventh place, while freshman Tayric Elliott (Long Beach Poly HS) turning in an eighth place time in the 200 meters at 22.08. Sophomore Isaiah Marshall (Carson HS) competed in the 1500 meters and posted a sixth place time of 4:01.42, while sophomore Alejandro Rios (Chino HS) recorded a time of 9:50.92 to come in fourth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
