Cerritos College pole vaulter Andrew Hladek (Liberty, NV HS) cleared a personal best height this season on the second day of the Cerritos Invitational on Saturday. His height of 4.52 meters not only won the event, it also was a State A Standard height and now ranks him 10th in Southern California and 13th in the state. The Falcons will now send athletes to both the Oregon Relays and Mt. San Antonio Relays this Thursday through Saturday. The Mt. SAC Relays will be held at Falcon Stadium due to construction at Mt. San Antonio.

Hladek cleared the height on his second attempt, and it secured first place when Golden West College's Jorge Zapien failed on all three of his attempts at 4.52 meters. Freshman Nicholas Mendoza (Norwalk HS) finished in third place with a height of 4.22 meters. In the long jump freshman Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) took third with a distance of 6.93 meters, with sophomore teammate Vincent Calhoun (Long Beach Poly HS) right behind with a leap of 6.77 meters.

Calhoun did take second place in the high jump when he cleared a height of 1.96 meters, and trailed only former Cal State Fullerton athlete Danny Savoie, who posted a high jump of 2.01 meters. In the triple jump, freshman Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) earned second place with a distance of 14.43 meters, with Calhoun coming in fourth place at 14.14 meters. Freshman Clinton Anderson (Paramount HS) competed in the discus and placed fourth with a distance of 42.56 meters. He trailed three Riverside City College athletes in the standings.

In the running events, sophomore Isaiah Marshall (Carson HS) took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.34, and edged out third place finisher Alberto Rodriguez of Riverside City and his time of 1:55.94. Freshman Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) ran the 400-meter IH in a time of 56.14 to come in fourth place, with sophomore Alejandro Rios (Chino HS) finishing the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:36.53 for third place in the race, while it put him fourth on the school's top five list.
