On the first day of the Cerritos Invitational, the weather was as much a participant as the colleges involved. Dealing with cold, rainy conditions, the Falcons still managed 18 top 10 finishes in the 12 events that took place. The second day of the invitational will include a full compliment of events.

In the long jump, sophomore Ricardo Thomas (Warren HS) came in first place with a leap of 6.53 meters, with teammates David Williams (Long Beach Poly HS) and Clifford Scott (Carson HS) turning in jumps of 5.91 meters and 5.71 meters to come in eighth and 11th places, respectively. Sophomore hammer thrower Allejandro Cuellar (Long Beach Millikan HS) finished in fifth place at 47.07 meters, with sophomore Brian King (Cerritos HS) turning in a seventh place throw of 45.70 meters.

Sophomore Tristian Escobar (Bell Gardens HS) defeated all other community college entries in the javelin, as he placed third overall with a throw of 52.26 meters, while sophomore Ismael Guerrero (Downey HS) took fifth place at 47.36 meters.

The 800 meters saw freshman Keith Turner (Centennial, NV HS) post a time of 1:58.16 to come in third place, with freshman Zarin Redfud (Paramount HS) running the 400 meters in 49.90 to come in third place. Thomas also ran the 200 meters and came in fifth place in 22.23, with Scott right behind with a time of 22.41, good for sixth place.
