When Thomas Cheval was a freshman at the Cerritos College, he showed everyone how great of an all-around athlete he was. Cheval used the close competition at the 2014 CCCAA State Championships to help push him toward establishing the nation's best point total among community college athletes. Cheval, who won the championship, finished with 7175 points, which also established a new school record. His point total surpassed Falcon head coach Chris Richardson, who scored 6980 in winning the 2005 state title.

Thomas Cheval set five PR's in the heptathlon After one season with Cerritos, Cheval (pictured, left) signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Oklahoma. He had an exceptional sophomore outdoor track season, where he placed fourth at the Big 12 Championships and amassed 7187 points, which were a new personal best.

Last week, while competing in the heptathlon during the indoor track season, Cheval established a new Sooners school record with 5671 points. He finished fourth at the Razorback Invitational, while his point total would be sixth in the nation. Cheval finished with his five PR in the heptathlon, which included 60-meter dash (7.04), long jump (24' 4 1/4") and shot put (41' 5") on the first day. He followed that by running 2:47.76 in the 1000-meter run, while he also recorded a best in the pole vault (14' 5 1/4") and ran an 8.21 in the 60-meter hurdles.
