In their first meet of the season, the Cerritos College men's cross country team took ninth place at the Fresno Invitational. The site of the CCCAA State Championships in November, the Falcons finished with 237 team points and just missed out on leapfrogging over De Anza College, who took eighth place with 235 points. The team will get right back on the road, and will compete in the Biola Invitational next Friday, which will be held at Craig Regional Park in Fullerton.

The top three finishers were from four-year universities, while only one other Southern California school placed ahead of the Falcons.

Completing the course first for Cerritos was sophomore Joshua Williams (Los Alamitos HS), who took 55th out of 113 overall competitors with a time of 23:21.8 and was part of a pack of seven runners that all crossed the finish line within 10 seconds of each other. Included in that group was freshman Joshua Granados (California HS), who was exactly one second behind Williams at 23:22.8 and earned 57th place overall, while Ryan Perdomo (El Rancho HS) was 13 places behind and crossed the finish line in 24:03.9.

The duo of freshman Isaac Gonzalez (Norwalk HS) and sophomore Joe Munoz (Long Beach Jordan HS) were separated by :18 seconds and finished four places apart, with Munoz posting a 74th place time of 24:34.1, while Munoz's time of 24:34.1 was good for 78th place overall.

Also competing for the Falcons on the day included freshmen Jorge Reyes (El Rancho HS; 87th place; 25:08.4), Marcus Hughes (Carson HS; 92nd place; 25:33.5), Daniel Gomez (Santa Fe HS; 100th place; 26:22.5) and Omar Reina (El Rancho HS; 106th place; 27:16.5).
