As one of only three community colleges competing in the Highlander Invitational at UC Riverside on Saturday morning, the Cerritos College men's cross country finished in 24th place. The Falcons finished with 803 team points and finished ahead of South Coast Conference opponent Los Angeles Harbor College, while 22 of the 23 schools ahead of them were four-year universities. The team will now compete in the South Coast Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Compton College and take place on October 29.
Of the 290 entries in the 8K race, sophomore Joshua Williams (Los Alamitos HS) was the first Falcon to complete the course, as he turned in a time of 27:22.5, which put him in 211th place overall. It was a little over a minute later when Jose Solares (Segerstrom HS) turned in his 251st place time of 28:36.3, while Marcus Hughes (Carson HS) was right behind in 253rd place with a clocking of 28:48.2. The next two finishers that comprised the team score were Joshua Granados (California HS), who finished in 29:17.7, which put him in 265th place overall, with Roy Garcia (Salesian HS) recording a 269th place time of 29:40.0.
Also competing on the day for Cerritos were Isaac Gonzalez (Norwalk HS; 31:07.2; 278th place) and Daniel Gomez (Santa Fe HS; 31:48.2; 281st place).
