With his overall 55th place time of 21:32.2, Cerritos College sophomore cross country runner Joshua Williams (Los Alamitos HS) has qualified for the CCCAA State Championships, which will be held November 20 in Fresno. Williams and the Falcon team came in 15th place out of 25 teams with 452 team points at the Southern California Championships on Friday, which prevented them from qualifying as a team. Only 21 schools qualified for the state championships, with 14 of the schools coming from Southern California. Cerritos finished behind South Coast Conference opponent El Camino College, who came in 14th place with 409 team points. Williams was able to qualify as an individual by finishing in the top 50% of the field. They are taking 30 individuals combined from the north and south, while Williams was eighth individual from the south to qualify.
After the finish by Williams, the next Cerritos runner to complete the 4-mile course was Joshua Granados (California HS), who turned in a 97th overall place time of 22:32.2, with teammate Ryan Perdomo (El Rancho HS) not too far behind with a 104th overall finish with his time of 22:50.2.
