Just two days after dropping their first game in two years, the Cerritos College women's soccer team scored any way they wanted in their South Coast Conference opener at ECC Compton Center on Friday. The Falcons (7-1-0, 1-0-0) posted a 24-0 win, and had nine different players score goals. They will host their first game of the season on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. when they take on Long Beach City College.

Cerritos attempted 46 shots on the day and put 15 into the net in the first half before continuing their offensive barrage in the second half. Six different players scored multiple goals, with freshman Itzel Ballesteros (Maywood Academy HS) leading the way with five goals, while she assisted on three others for a 13-point day. Sophomore Nicole Graham (Palm Springs HS/Citrus College) scored her first four goals of the season and assisted on another, while sophomore Amber Whitmore (Los Alamitos HS) now has 11 goals after her four tallies.

Coming off the bench, sophomore Natalie de Leon (St. Joseph HS) scored three times and assisted on three more goals, while freshman Maria Hernandez (Sierra Vista HS) also scored three times, including once on a penalty kick. Sophomore Jill Messersmith (Newport Beach HS) finished with two goals and three helpers, with sophomore Ashli Villalobos (Mayfair HS/Cal State Los Angeles) assisting on four goals and scoring one of her own.

Freshman goalkeeper Arianna Armijo (North Torrance HS) played the entire game and did not face a single shot on goal.
