For the eighth time this season, and fourth in the last five games, the Cerritos College women's soccer team recorded a shutout. The Falcons (11-1-0) handed host Mt. San Antonio College a 4-0 decision in a South Coast Conference cross over game on Friday. The team will now host Pasadena City College at 2:00 p.m. in another crossover game.

The scoring opened in the ninth minute when freshman Itzel Ballesteros (Maywood Academy HS) dribbled across the 18-yard box from the right side and found sophomore Natalie de Leon (St. Joseph HS) inside the penalty box. de Leon made a spin move around her defender and sent a shot across her body that scored into the lower right corner of the goal.

Before the end of the first half, the Falcons struck again when freshman Gissell Gutierrez (Dominguez HS) took the ball down the right side of the field and crossed a pass to sophomore Cheyenne De Los Reyes (Santa Monica HS/Santa Monica College). The six-foot De Los Reyes was able to get up over her defender and headed the ball into the net for a 2-0 advantage in the 39th minute.

Just 12 minutes into the second half, Ballesteros picked up her second assist of the game when she pushed the ball up the left side and found sophomore Ashli Villalobos (Mayfair HS/Cal State Los Angeles). The pass was sent to the top of the box, where Villalobos completed the goal with a one-timer into the upper right corner. Cerritos concluded the scoring on a Maria Hernandez (Sierra Vista HS) goal, where she chipped the ball into the net on a pass from sophomore Laura Aquije (Warren HS).

Sophomore Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS), making her third straight start afer missing five games, recorded her second straight shutout and third full-game clean sheet of the season.
