With their 3-0 win over host Long Beach City College, the Cerritos College women's soccer team clinched their 10th straight South Coast Conference title. The Falcons (17-1-0, 6-0-0), ranked #2 in the country by the NSCAA hold a seven-point lead over second place El Camino College in the South Division with two regular season games remaining. The team will host Los Angeles Harbor College at 1:00 p.m. next Tuesday before closing out with a 1:00 p.m. game against the Warriors. Cerritos has also won the last four CCCAA State Championships and are the defending National Champions.

They opened the scoring in the 17th minute when sophomore Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 54, Tijuana HS) converted a penalty kick, her eighth goal of the season. Prior to the end of the first half, the Falcons took a 2-0 lead on a set piece. Jaramillo sent a corner kick to the far left post, where sophomore Natalie de Leon (St. Joseph HS) was there to slot the ball into the top corner for her 14th goal of the season.

Early in the second half, the Falcons added to their lead right after Julianna Carrillo of the Vikings hit the post. On the transition back down the field, freshman Itzel Ballesteros (Maywood Academy HS) finished off the play in the 52nd minute with her team-leading 20th goal of the season.

LBCC did get a pair of shots on goal in the next six minutes, but sophomore Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) was there to make her only two saves of the game. She finished with her eighth shutout of the season and improved to 13-0-0 in as many starts, while lowering her goals against average to 0.48.
