On Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team had eight different goal scorers in a 16-0 South Coast Conference South Division win against visiting ECC Compton Center. The victory by the Falcons (16-1-0, 5-0-0) keeps them in first place in the division with three regular season games remaining. The team will travel to Long Beach City College on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. division game.

Cerritos scored 11 of their goals in the first half, with six of them coming in a 10-minute span. Freshman Itzel Ballesteros (Maywood Academy HS) accounted for three of her four goals over that period, with sophomore Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 54, Tijuana HS) posting the team's final three goals of the first half.

The second half saw the duo of sophomore Cheyenne De Los Reyes (Santa Monica HS/Santa Monica College) and freshman Kristen Gomez (Harmony Magnet Academy HS) each score twice, with Ballesteros assisting on a pair of goals. Sophomore Natalie de Leon (St. Joseph HS) had a goal and assist in the second half to along with a first half assist.

Sophomore Jill Messersmith (Newport Beach HS) had a trio of helpers on the day, which gives her a state-leading 17 assists on the season. Sophomore Yaqualin Garcia (Paramount HS) scored two of the team's first three goals, while Jaramillo finished with three assists.

In goal, sophomore Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) notched her seventh shutout in her 12 starts and is 10th in the state with an 0.52 goals against average. She made a pair of easy saves on the day.
