On Thursday in their South Coast Conference game against visiting Long Beach City College, the Cerritos College baseball team was limited to just two hits in an 11-1 loss. The Falcons (6-23, 5-14) will close out their three-game series with the Vikings (21-12, 14-4) on Saturday at noon at Joe Hicks Field. It will be the first of five consecutive road games.

Long Beach put three runs on the board in the top of the first inning and added a solo run in the second inning against freshman starting pitcher Vincent Martin (Chandler, AZ HS). Settling down after the slow start, Martin retired the next six batters in a row before three hits in the fourth inning led to two more runs.

Facing starting pitcher Garrett Rennie, Cerritos got a second inning single from sophomore catcher Andre Alvarez (Walnut HS), but that would be it through the first six innings. They scored their lone run in the seventh inning against relief pitcher Jonathan Martz, as sophomore first baseman Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) led off with a double. He moved to third base on a ground out and scored on an infield out by sophomore shortstop Trevor McInerney (Cerritos HS/El Camino HS).

Freshman field players Gregory Navarro III (West Covina HS) and Wyatt Hall (Long Beach Millikan HS) each pitched an inning to close out the game and combined to give up just one hit.
