In just their second game of the season, the Cerritos College baseball team was limited to just one run on five hits in a 7-1 loss to Glendale College on Tuesday. The Falcons (0-2) will get another shot at the Vaqueros (1-1) on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Kincaid Field. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was moved up one day due to the incoming rainstorm.

After three innings, Cerritos found themselves trailing, 5-0, as Glendale scored in each stanza to open an early lead. Sophomore Joshua Jorgensen (Lakewood HS/East Los Angeles College) was hit with the loss after allowing five runs on five hits in those three innings. He also walked four and struck out four batters. Jorgensen worked out of a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the first after Glendale had scored twice. The big blow was a two-run home run he allowed in the third inning by Casey Slattery.

Sophomore Brian Kossler (Mayfair HS) came on to start the fourth inning and did a superb job of shutting down the Vaqueros, as he allowed just one run and struck out five. Freshman John Chavez (St. John Bosco HS) tossed the final two innings and struck out four while allowing a pair of runs. The Cerritos pitching staff struck out 13 Glendale batters.

Offensively, the Falcons scored their lone run in the top of the seventh inning, as sophomore first baseman Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) singled with one out. He advanced to second base on an infield out and then scored when freshman third baseman Matt Den Hartog (Los Alamitos HS) singled with two outs.

On the day, Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a walk, with four others slapping out singles.
