In the first inning of their South Coast Conference game against visiting Rio Hondo College, the Cerritos College baseball team committed two errors, which led the way to six runs. The Falcons (3-15, 2-5) were never able to recover, and went on to lose, 13-2, their third setback in a row. The team will now start a three-game series with El Camino with the first game on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Kincaid Field.

The first throwing error of the inning put a runner at first base with one out, while two consecutive walks loaded the bases. A two-run double by Jorge Centeno was followed by a sacrifice fly, with a run scoring single to follow to make it 4-0. The inning could have been over, if not for another throwing error, which led to two more runs.

The Falcons had runners on base via walks the first two innings, but didn't collect their first hit until a leadoff single by sophomore outfielder Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) in the bottom of the fourth inning. A double play ended that chance, while they finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run triple from sophomore catcher Andre Alvarez (Walnut HS).

Even after the first inning, the Roadrunners didn't collect their next hit until two outs in the top of the sixth inning. But in the seventh, they put six more runs on the board off three pitchers, which included two walks and a hit batter, all of which scored.

On the day, Cerritos had just five hits, with sophomore outfielder Cody Ahrens (Mayfair HS/Hope International University) collecting two of them.
